WorldMed from Travel Insurance Services participates in MultiPlan PPO network.
When you go the provider(doctor, hospital etc), you have to ask 'Do you
participate in MultiPlan PPO Network?', as the doctors may
not be aware of WorldMed or Travel Insurance Services or even AIG.
When you go to the providers in the network, they can accept the insurance
card and bill the insurance company directly. Also, the network providers
will only charge Network Negotiated Fee(NNF) or also called Contracted Fee.
In case the provider didn't bill the insurance company directly but billed you,
you can pay up front and file for reimbursement.
However, the plan does not restrict to visiting the providers in the network
only. You can visit any doctor you wish.
When you go to the doctor outside
the network, it depends upon the doctor whether to bill the insurance company directly or not. If the doctor does not accept the card, you
have to first pay and then get reimbursement by filing a claim form. Make sure to file a claim form as soon as possible.
When you visit the doctor outside the network, there is no network
negotiated fee but there is no reduction of benefits either. Insurance
company will pay according to reasonable and customery charges, of course after the deductible is paid, you still have to
pay the co-insurance as applicable.
There is no network of providers for prescription drugs (medicines).
Even if the provider agrees to bill the insurance company directly,
you should still file a Claim Form to expedite
the claim process. When the provider sends the bills to insurance company,
insurance company would need to request medical records from the provider
which the provider can't give until they have authorization from you to release
the records. Filing a claim form provides such authorization.
